Build the Ultimate Charcuterie Board

We just recently celebrated a friend’s 30th birthday by staying the night at a local Airbnb! A night of relaxing, drinking some wine, and just being together! When we asked the birthday girl what she wanted to eat, the first words out of her mouth were a charcuterie board! So of course I took it, and ran with it!

Recommendations on styling you charcuterie board below:

  • Start with the board – There are so many options of boards depending on what type you are looking for: slate board, wooden platform, round paddle board, bamboo board
  • It’s all about the cheese and meat – Cheeses are the focal point of a charcuterie board, so start there! I sliced several of the cheeses just before putting them on the board. This makes it much easier for guests to eat them. Arrange the rest of the cheeses with enough room for guests to slice. Then I arranged the meats around the cheeses.
  • Add dimension – By incorporating a few bowls or jars, you are adding depth to the board which is both pleasing to the eye and functional! They can hold your something salty (nuts) and something sweet (jam)!
  • The more the merrier – Now that the larger items are organized on the board, fill in the empty space with different fruits. Choose these items for taste, but also for a pop of color on the board!
  • Finishing touches – Supply a few knifes, so that the cheese and meat flavors do not transfer. I already had a cheese utensil set and cheese markers. They add a little flare to the board! Here is a list of all that our board entailed:

  • Cheeses: brie, gorgonzola, parmesan, colby jack, swiss, cheddar and pepper jack
  • Meats: salami, prosciutto, capocollo
  • Fruits: blackberries, pear, apple
  • Fillers: crackers, pretzel crisps, pickles, pistachios, peach preserves
