Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

After determining the date and location of our wedding, I was beyond excited to ask my closest friends to be my Bridesmaids! Due to the fact that three of my bridesmaids don’t live in the same state as me (a downfall of playing soccer in college), I knew that a phone call or text to them just wouldn’t do. I needed something more creative because I wanted my future bridesmaids to know how much they mean to me! I also LOVE to create memories for every occasion!

I looked around on Pinterest for some inspiration and decided a box full of goodies for each girl was the way to go (see my Bridesmaid Inspiration Board)

So I spent time putting together the perfect way to ask them! Full details and alternative ideas below:

I started with a simple box I purchased from Target. I had planned on painting a wooden cigar box for each of them, but when I saw these in the Target dollar section, I just couldn’t pass them up!

I wanted to incorporate the feeling and colors of the wedding, so I purchased 5 inch wooden letters and words from Hobby Lobby (with a 40% off coupon which they ALWAYS have online) and covered them in gold glitter using mod podge.

I also used Celebrate It tissue paper to place in the bottom of the box. If could go back, I would have used shredded crinkle paper instead, to give the box a little more texture. I have found that Amazon is a great place to purchase crinkle paper! Or you can find it at any craft store (Michaels).

I included informational cards: “Your Dress”, “My Girls”, “The Colors” and “The Big Day!”.

I typed all the info into Word, making sure each one got progressively longer, so when I stacked them on top of one another and tied them together, you would be able to see each title.

I also filled the box with a few of my favorite things and sayings:

  • I have followed Brittany Fuson since before she was a big deal, and I had been waiting until it was MY turn to buy her Will You Be My Bridesmaids? Notecards! It was definitely meant to be because the high heels matched my colors! And they couldn’t have looked cuter in the box!

  • What better way to celebrate than with champagne?! I decided on a mini bottle of Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut. The bottle is black which made it easy for me to add their names in gold sharpie.

  • eos Lip Balm – Costco 6 Pack for $14.00
  • Paper Straws – Target $2.00
  • I am an avid list maker, so when I saw a gold foil notepad in the Target dollar section, I thought they were a must have for the box.

  • Another cute idea to display your wedding colors is to stop by a paint store and pick up some FREE paint swatches that match your wedding colors. Tie them together with a cute ribbon and that way your bridesmaids can take them when they are getting shoes, jewelry, etc.
  • To let my Maid of Honor know how incredibly grateful I am for our 20+ year friendship, I added a little something special in her box. A Kate Spade Knot Ring! I got one ring for both of us, because “tying the knot” wouldn’t be the same without her! <3

I finished the boxes off with a picture of me with each of my future bridesmaids to make each box a little more personal.

Overall I love how they turned out, and even better, I had so much fun putting them together! (And yes, those are tear drops on my Maid of Honor’s box!)
